We run two 10mm petcocks from the Daytona. They need to be that big to feed enough fuel to the 48mm mikuni carbs. Looked like weekend over until another competitor rang his nephew in the next town and got him out of bed( night shift worker). he is a welder and got us going again. We will miss the 2nd qualifying but comfortable on 2nd row of the grid in 6th position so hopefully I\u2019ll stay there. The grids are not progressive so qualifying is important. Long way to drive for no racing. Turns out the engine fault at the Aussie Historic titles was a rear main oil seal. We have never heard of this type of failure before. This wonderful motorcycle has raced hard all season and is going to get a rest next year while we develop the new RaceCo 1225. It\u2019s going to be hard to leave it in the shed as I think this engine is much better than the 1225. We have just refitted the original full race fairing. We have not run the bike with this fairing before. It would be a big improvement at Phillip island. I think the fairing is very rare. I met a guy in Western Australia who has the identical fairing on his Daytona. He sent me a magazine article from the US about a Daytona that also had this fairing fitted. So there is at least 3. Gearbox was fine on the bench but under load showed problems with 3rd &amp; 4th gears. Still the driveline felt strong and the bike behaved well with the new engine position. So we have proof of concept. Back to the workshop to rebuild the gearbox. It had to come out anyway as it has an oil leak when dead cold. Wakefield Park was truly horrible with a top temperature of 6 degrees during testing.
